Stormwater storage tanks

Collection and storage of all rainwater run off

Sotanks® storage tanks are designed for the collection and the storage of all rainwater. They are made of durable, high-density polyethylene (HDPE) that provide strength, UV protection, and resistance to corrosion.

We offer a large range of rain water storage tank capacities, from 100 liter to 15,000 liter and more upon request.

Technical description of our rainwater storage tank

Material

Plastic (HDPE): High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) is commonly used due to its resistance to impact, UV degradation, and chemical exposure. It ensures the tank remains durable and long-lasting even when exposed to external factors.

UV Stabilization: The tank is UV-stabilized to prevent degradation under sunlight, ensuring that it maintains its structural integrity over time.

Tank Capacity

Rainwater storage tanks come in a wide range of sizes, from small 100-liter units to large 15,000-liter or more. The capacity can vary depending on the requirements of the application.

As standard, we can offer our range of “ecoslim” rain water storage tank, from 3,000-liter to 7,000 liter capacity.

Color and Insulation

Opaque Colors: Most tanks are opaque (dark green, black, or gray) to prevent algae growth, which thrives in light. The color also helps in blocking UV light, which can degrade the stored water quality. Upon request, Sotanks can also offer a range of above-ground potable water storage tanks.

Durability and Longevity

Corrosion Resistance: Plastic rainwater tanks are resistant to rust and corrosion making them ideal for outdoor exposure in all weather conditions.

Impact Resistance: The tank material is strong enough to withstand impact, to avoid possible damages during transport, installation, or when subjected to external forces (e.g., falling debris, minor collisions).

Environmental and Health Considerations

Non-Toxic Materials: The PE plastic used is certified for potable water storage, ensuring the purity of the water.

Water Quality: Rainwater stored in plastic tanks must be maintained properly to ensure it remains safe for its intended use, whether for irrigation, non-potable domestic use, or even potable water (after filtration and treatment, available upon request).

Maintenance

Regular cleaning of the tank by pass for heavy sudden rains and inlet screens are necessary to maintain water quality.

The tank may also require periodic inspection particularly after storms or heavy rain. Our tanks are specifically designed for easy maintenance.

Optional Add-ons

Pump System: For lifting or re-using water, especially in systems that use rainwater for irrigation or household use.

Features of our rainwater storage tank

01

Inlet

An inlet connection allows rain water to flow into the storage tank. A filter is included to remove the first heavy rain falls, which may carry contaminants from the roof or ground surface.

02

Overflow

Tanks include an overflow pipe, located at the top of the tank, which allows excess water to escape when the tank reaches its maximum capacity.

03

Outlet

A tap or valve at the bottom of the tank for drawing out stored water. It can be connected to an irrigation system or other applications.

04

Access Manhole

Manways allow for maintenance and cleaning. The tank may have a removable lid or manhole for this purpose.

Sotanks® rainwater storage tank is an efficient and durable solution for storing rainwater for various applications. It is designed with user-friendly features like UV protection, corrosion resistance, and ease of maintenance, ensuring reliable performance over time.
